Date Difference Calculator

Count the days, weeks and months between two dates, including working days only, or add and subtract days from any date.

Add or subtract days

Calendar days and working days are not the same

A thirty day notice period and thirty working days are six weeks apart in practice. This calculator reports both, splitting the total into weekdays and weekend days, which is what contracts, delivery estimates and court deadlines usually depend on.

Where it gets used

  • Notice periods, probation periods and contract end dates
  • Project timelines and delivery promises
  • Visa stay limits and travel windows
  • Counting down to an exam, a wedding or a due date

A note on public holidays

Working days here mean Monday to Friday. National holidays vary by country and are not subtracted, so check your local calendar for anything legally binding. In countries where the weekend is Friday and Saturday, adjust the figure accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

Are both the start and end dates counted?

The total is the gap between the two dates. Add one day if your deadline counts the start date itself.

Does it account for leap years?

Yes. Real calendar dates are used, so 29 February is included whenever it falls in the range.

How do I subtract days from a date?

Enter a negative number in the days field of the second section, for example -45.
