Counts that matter when you write
Character limits decide whether a title shows fully in Google, whether a meta description gets cut, and whether a post fits a platform limit. Word counts decide grades on assignments and rates on freelance work. This page reports both, plus sentences, paragraphs, reading time and the words you lean on most.
Limits worth memorising
- Google title: roughly 60 characters before truncation
- Meta description: roughly 155 characters
- X post: 280 characters
- Instagram caption: 2,200 characters
- SMS: 160 characters per segment
Keyword density in plain terms
The frequency list shows how often each word appears. If one term sits far above the rest, the text may read as repetitive to both people and search engines. Aim for natural variation rather than a target percentage.
Frequently asked questions
How is reading time estimated?
At 225 words a minute for silent reading and 130 for speaking aloud, which are the common averages for adult readers.
Does the text leave my device?
No. Counting happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored.
How are sentences counted?
By full stops, question marks and exclamation marks. Abbreviations can occasionally be counted as sentence breaks.
